Helping protect you from environmental health risks

Health protection covers many strategies and interventions to minimize environmental health risks for the public. Many of these programs are mandated in legislation by the Public Health Act.

Services under the health protection umbrella generally fall into two areas:

Environmental health

Environmental health supports food safety, water quality, air quality, pest management, sanitation, noise control, injury prevention and tobacco reduction.

Facility licensing

Facility licensing protects and promotes the health, safety and well-being of vulnerable children and adults in care facilities such as residential care homes and daycares.
