Vivian Cheng, Physiotherapist
Eighteen years is certainly a long time, but Vivian is passionate about working as a physiotherapist PT.
Up next in our highlight of physiotherapists this month is Vivian Cheng, a physiotherapist (PT) who has been working at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) for 18 years. She is currently based in Sechelt Hospital.
Eighteen years is certainly a long time, but Vivian is passionate about working as a PT. She enjoys helping patients achieve their goals, and learning from them when they graciously impart their wisdom. For the more convoluted cases, she also enjoys working with the health care team to identify and solve problems.
Vivian’s most exciting moments that have taken place at work are when she has met inspirational individuals and heard their stories. “I have met a 90-year old patient who celebrated her 70th birthday by riding across Canada. I’ve also met a 95-year old patient from England who blindfolded himself and threw a dart at a map to decide where he and his wife would move to; it landed on Prince George, BC,” she explains.
Moving to the Sunshine Coast
Born and raised in Vancouver, Vivian has always wanted to escape the hustle of the city and be closer to nature. Luckily, the Sunshine Coast was the perfect fit for her, as it was only a short ferry ride away from her family and friends.
Sechelt is a central hub ideal for exploration and getaway from city life. Sechelt Hospital serves the communities of Langdale, Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Halfmoon Bay and Pender Harbour. Learn more about working at Sechelt and the Sunshine Coast.
Lastly, Vivian shares a fun fact or rather a cautionary warning: ”Never trust a physiotherapist who does not consume treats!”
