Richmond Hospital
Vancouver Coastal Health contributes to the health of approximately 222,945 Richmond residents by providing a range of direct and contracted health care services that support people from birth to end of life, from acute care through community, public and environmental health, and long-term care.
Being one of two sites in B.C. for Metabolic & Bariatric surgery, Richmond Hospital has eight operating rooms which include four minimally invasive theatres, two of which have 3D visual capacity. Surgical services include general surgery, urology, gynecology, obstetrics, ENT, vascular, orthopedic and plastic procedures. Our Surgical Day Care and PACU departments work closely together to provide exceptional pre and post-surgical care.
We are staffed by mostly Critical Care RNs who float between our pre-and post-op areas. We provide care to both day surgeries, and those requiring stays in the hospital. We also support and provide care for patients requiring ECT and elective cardioversions.
Health care professionals at Richmond Hospital come from the world over, bringing their expertise and passion for care to our unique team. Participative management provides empowerment to staff through collaboration within a diverse interdisciplinary team.
Community and Home Health
Community and home care services provide a range of health care and support services to people who have acute, chronic, palliative or rehabilitative health care needs. Clients may need these services if they are released from the hospital and need short-term care, have an ongoing or chronic health issue requiring additional care or have a health issue that is getting worse and needs support to continue to live at home.
Our philosophy is that home is best, as most people wish to remain in their own home for as long as possible. We are committed to the quality of life by supporting independence, health, and wellness through the delivery of person and family-centered care. Home support is care-at-home to help clients remain independent and enhance their quality of life. These support services are provided by community health workers (CHWs) to clients who require assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, heating and serving meals and moving around the house. We have many opportunities for health care professionals to work in the community and home health.
