Anesthesiologist

The anesthesiology departments at VCH are affiliated with the University of British Columbia (UBC). Our anesthesiologists play an active role in the daily education of medical students, residents and fellows, and participate in multidisciplinary training simulations with other health care professionals.

As an anesthesiologist, you'll provide quality team-based care, encounter dynamic, challenging case work and have opportunities to participate in quality improvement, research, and teaching.

Vancouver Acute Anesthesiologists practice across both Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and the University of British Columbia Hospital (UBCH), with a diverse and varied workload that encompasses all adult surgical subspecialties, except obstetrics. As the province’s major tertiary referral and Level 1 trauma centre, VGH offers a complex, interesting case mix with a significant proportion of urgent and emergency cases.

North Vancouver

The Department of Anesthesia at Lions Gate Hospital (LGH) is an active clinical and UBC-affiliated academic department. LGH, a Level 3 Trauma Centre, provides comprehensive 24/7 anesthetic care for a wide range of specialties. Serving as the referral centre for VCH's Coastal Community of Care, LGH handles a substantial trauma population, particularly in orthopedics and neurosurgery. The department also offers acute pain services, a pre-anesthetic clinic, support for out-of-OR procedures, and regional anesthesia, along with academic teaching for trainees at all levels.

Anesthesiologists at Richmond Hospital support core surgical programs, including OB/GYN, general surgery, ENT, orthopedics, urology, and plastics, along with sub-specialties in vascular and bariatric surgery. The team is a collegial group of twelve.
