Sea to sky highway

Biography

In her 19th year of clinical practice, Jennifer currently has a primary care practice in North Vancouver,  focusing on patients impacted by health and social inequities. She has special interests in mental health, substance use disorder, gender-affirming care and end of life-care care, ensuring access to care for all patients. With a commitment to quality care and patient safety, Jennifer is involved in numerous quality initiatives across VCH.

Her health-care career began over 24 years ago as a registered nurse at VCH, working in hematology and bone marrow transplant at Vancouver General Hospital.  She also spent time in rural remote communities in the Northwest Territories, which she credits as foundational to her development as a clinician and leader.

Jennifer graduated from the inaugural NP master's degree program at the University of British Columbia in 2005 and in 2019 achieved her doctoral degree (DNP) with a dual focus on opioid use disorder and health-care system leadership. As a value-based leader, she employs human system dynamics to address complex issues and leads with a trauma-informed equity-focused approach.

She is also the current chair of the Provincial HAMAC Chairs committee.
