Dr. Philip Dawe

Dr. Dawe enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1990. He was graduated from the Royal Roads Military College and Royal Military College of Canada in 1994 with a Bachelor in Engineering and was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. He served in several roles with the PPCLI including three overseas tours in Bosnia, Kosovo and Afghanistan. In 2002, he transferred to the medical branch of the CAF and completed Medical School and Family Medicine training at the University of Manitoba. After two years as a military GP, he began a General Surgical residency, also at the University of Manitoba. After one year in practice as a community general surgeon in the Winnipeg area, Dr. Dawe completed a one-year Trauma and Acute Care Surgery fellowship at VGH. Since completion of fellowship, he has deployed to Iraq and Western Africa. He has also completed a Leadership in Surgical Simulation Fellowship at CESEI in Vancouver.
