Contact the Vancouver Coastal Health Richmond Mental Health and Substance Use Central Intake team for help finding non-life-threatening mental health or substance use support if you live or stay in Richmond, B.C. 

  • Call: (604) 204-1111 Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 
  • Drop in: Richmond Place - 8100 Granville, Unit 620, Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. 

When you call or drop in, our team can connect you to the right services or resources when you need them and where you need them. Services support children, youth, adults, and older adults. 

Intake services are available in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Free interpreting services are also available in other languages.

Services

    • Richmond Community MHSU Central Intake at Richmond Place

      VCH Richmond Mental Health and Substance Use has several programs and services to support children, youth, adults and older adults. Our Central Intake team is available to provide information about our services and how to connect.

    • Richmond Acute Home Base Treatment (AHBT)

      Short-term care for Richmond residents ages 17 and over with mental health and/or substance use concerns who are experiencing an acute increase in symptoms or distress. Care is provided in the home in order to avoid or shorten a hospital admission.

    • Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) Richmond

      Provides assessment and treatment for Richmond residents ages 13 to 30 who have recently developed psychosis. Services are offered for up to 3 years.

    • Geriatric Assessment Program (GAP)

      Comprehensive geriatric consultation program that offers assessment and treatment services for Richmond residents, age 70 and older. Specializes in care for individuals with complex physical, cognitive, and chronic disease management challenges who require a Geriatric Medicine consultation.

    • Psychiatric inpatient services at Richmond Hospital

      Mental health inpatient services, also known as 2 West at Richmnd Hospital, provide assessment and treatment to adults who require acute 24-hour management in a hospital setting.

    • Rapid Access Consult Clinic (RACC) at Community Health Access Centre

      One-time psychiatrist consultation for for adults aged 19 and older for diagnostic clarification and/or medication review. Recommendations are forwarded to family physician or nurse practitioner.

    • Richmond Assertive Community Team (ACT) at Community Health Access Centre

      A client-centered, recovery-oriented mental health service delivery model for clients who have the most serious mental illnesses and complex substance use disorders, have severe functional impairments, and who would benefit from comprehensive, wrap-around care.

    • Richmond Bridge House

      A short stay crisis intervention facility in the community for Richmond residents 19 and over who are experiencing a mental health crisis but do not require an acute psychiatric hospitalization. Clients are cared for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be admitted for a maximum of 14 days.

    • Richmond Eating Disorders Program

      Community-based assessment and treatment for youth, adults and families with eating disorders. Treatment may include individual, group and/or family counselling, medical monitoring and nutritional support.

    • Richmond Mental Health Consumer and Friends Society (RCFC)

      A self-governing peer-run mental health organization.

    • Richmond Mental Health Team at the Community Health Access Center

      Case management, psychiatry and rehabilitation services for adults 19 and over who have ongoing mental health and substance use concerns that affect their functioning & require a broad range of coordinated services.

    • Richmond Older Adult Mental Health Team at the Community Health Access Center

      Assessment and treatment for older adults with serious mental illness complicated by complex medical issues or dementia with behavioural and psychological symptoms, including clients under 65 with early-onset dementia.

    • Outpatient Psychiatry Services at Richmond Hospital

      Offers short-term follow-up in the areas of general and older adult psychiatry.

    • Transitions

      Assessment and treatment services with substance use (including alcohol or drugs) or mental health concerns (including mood and anxiety).

    • Step Up/Step Down services - Richmond

      Urgent response for children and youth who are at moderate to high risk of suicide. This service includes the Team Response to Adolescent & Children in Crisis (TRACC)

    • Early Childhood Mental Health Services at Richmond Place – 8100 Granville Avenue

      Assessment and treatment for behavioural/emotional problems in infants and children aged 0 to 6. Services are made up of a multidisciplinary team composed of psychiatrists and allied health professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and counsellors.

    • Richmond Family Access Support Team (RFAST)

      RFAST is an intensive outreach team for families where at least one member of the family is facing severe mental illness and/or substance use issues.

    • Anne Vogel Clinic

      Provides comprehensive assessment, support and Opioid Agonist Treatment to Richmond residents and people living in surrounding areas who are using opioids.

    • Cognitive Assessment and Rehabilitation for Substance Use (CARSU)

      Self-refer or referrals accepted. Assessment and treatment services for people experiencing cognitive challenges related to substance use including alcohol.

    • Harm Reduction Supplies & Needle Distribution Site at Richmond Hospital ER

      Harm reduction supplies including clean needles, sterile water, alcohol swabs, pipes and health information to support safer substance use practices. We also provide safer sex supplies including condoms.

    • Harm Reduction Supplies & Needle Distribution Site at Richmond Place

      Harm reduction supplies including clean needles, sterile water, alcohol swabs, pipes and health information to support safer substance use practices. We also provide safer sex supplies including condoms.

    • Harm Reduction Supplies and Needle Distribution Site at Anne Vogel Clinic
