Bone density tests evaluate the risk of developing osteoporosis or bone fractures, or to see if a treatment plan is stabilizing bone density.

Bone densitometry scans evaluate the fracture risk and monitor therapeutic regimes for osteoporosis. Bone density testing will determine the mineral content or strength of bones.

How to access

  • Get a referral

    Have your physician complete the medical imaging requisition form and fax it to the department. 

  • Confirm appointment

    A medical imaging clerk will contact patients to book an appointment. Call 604-875-5369 to change or cancel an appointment.

  • Languages

    ​English. With advanced notice, Vancouver Coastal Health provides interpreter services for non-English speaking patients for all medical imaging modalities.
