Vancouver Hospice Society

• We have 8 patient rooms, all with windows that face the gardens. Each room has a washroom, television, telephone, linens, and a sofa bed or sleeping chair. There is a centrally located shower room.
• Meals prepared by hospice staff are served at the dining table or in patient rooms. Freshly baked cookies, coffee and tea are available in the main kitchen during the day. Family members must bring their own food, as well as any favourite foods for their loved ones. These can be stored in the downstairs kitchen.
• We have a shared living room on the main floor of the hospice for patients, families, and visitors to enjoy. In addition, there is a large Family Room located on the lower level that includes a comfortable space to gather or relax, as well as a play area for children.
• Pets are welcome in patient rooms, and dogs must be kept on a leash in all other areas of the hospice and gardens.
• Guests are welcome to visit patients at the hospice at any time.

Our clinical team comprises nurses, care aides, physicians, counsellors and a clinical coordinator with specialized training in palliative and end-of-life care. They bring a wealth of experience and expertise, with the goal of providing complex pain and symptom management, counselling support, and compassionate care to all of our patients and their families.

Vancouver Hospice nursing staff work 12-hour shifts beginning and ending at 07:00. Physicians visit patients throughout the week and are available on-call 24 hours a day to staff. Our team also meets weekly to review and evaluate patients and to ensure the changing needs of patients and families are met.

Our incredible team of trained hospice volunteers is available to provide companionship and bereavement support to patients and families in the hospice and community. Our counselling team provides individual and group grief and bereavement support free of charge.
