Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Sea to Sky Community Hospice

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Sea to Sky Community Hospice is a partnership between the Squamish Hospice Society and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). We have a team of experienced care providers, including nurses, doctors, counsellors and a large group of volunteers who provide extra support.

The hospice is staffed 24 hours a day with registered nurses. The palliative care on-call physicians visit daily throughout the week and are on-call on the weekends.

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Sea to Sky Community Hospice is located on the traditional homelands of the Squamish Nation and serves Sea to Sky residents who live on the traditional homelands of the Squamish, Lil'wat, N'Quatqua, Samahquam, Skatin and Xa'xtsa First Nations.

Hospice features

The hospice has four private rooms, each with a washroom, telephone, TV with cable and wireless internet. Rooms also have ceiling lifts, electric beds and home-like furniture. The hospice is air-conditioned, and all the bedrooms are of equal size. We can help you arrange mobility equipment as required.

A lounge provides a relaxing area for visiting, reading and dining. There are televisions and assorted media equipment in the lounge. We ask that this area be free of music and loud noise except during hospice-organized events.

The hospice also has a unique sacred space, a counselling room and a large, multipurpose resource room. Families, guests and patients may use a small kitchenette for their needs.

Safety and security

The front door is locked at all times. There is a video camera security system, and smoke detector and sprinkler system throughout the building.

Community amenities

The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Sea to Sky Community Hospice is a short distance from downtown Squamish, where you can find grocery stores, coffee shops and community facilities.

Food service

Three full meals are prepared daily, with snacks and access to beverages. Visitors may dine with clients, please ask the nursing staff about ordering meals.

Personal belongings

We welcome patients to bring belongings to the hospice to be comfortable and to make their room more home-like.

Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Sea to Sky Community Hospice is not responsible for the loss, disappearance or damage of any personal items. We suggest clients provide insurance for any valuables that remain at the hospice.

Visiting hours

Family and friends are welcome to visit at any time. Upon arrival visitors must sign in at the nursing station. The front door is always locked. To request entrance, ring the bell or use the entry code for the keypad next to the front door (hospice staff can provide you with the entry code).

Family and visitors can bring their laptops and devices to the hospice. Free Wifi is available.

Furnishings

Each room has a wardrobe for patients' personal clothing, a bedside locker, fully electric bed with ceiling lift, a sleeper couch and access to electric recliner chairs.

Each room has a Smart TV, a telephone and wireless internet.

All bedrooms have pull out couch for visitors. Visitors must inform the nurse in-charge if they intend to stay overnight. There is a private family shower room for visitors to use.
