Accessibility
Health care needs to be accessible to all. Here are programs we offer and partners we work with in the community to provide better access to health care services.
Accessibility Plan
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is committed to accessibility and to continuous quality improvement to provide equitable care to all.
Aligned with, and in support of, the Accessible British Columbia Act, VCH is developing an accessibility plan to implement strategies to identify, address and prevent barriers to accessibility.
Fostering and promoting accessibility is an essential step in creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive organization, one where everyone feels understood, heard and valued. We are committed to removing barriers to accessibility.
We recognize that disability intersects with various aspects of identity, including race, gender identity, sexuality, religion, socioeconomic status and more. These intersections are front of mind in our work and include Indigenous perspectives to ensure our support respect and reflect lived experience.
To support these efforts, we are working with an internal Leadership Working Group and Accessibility Committee. Each committee includes members with lived experience. We will also be forming an Accessibility Advisory Committee and inviting members of the public and representatives from disability focused community organizations to join. Valuable insights from the existing groups are guiding our efforts to address the diverse needs of the communities we serve.
