‘Not suitable for swimming’ advisory remains in place for Alice Lake due to blue-green algae

Vancouver, B.C. — With warm weather in the forecast for the Labour Day long weekend and many people looking for ways to cool off, Public Health officials at Vancouver Coastal Health warn the public that a “Not suitable for swimming” advisory remains in place for Alice Lake near Squamish, due to a bloom of blue-green algae, or cyanobacteria.

Measles exposure notification for flights and at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on November 23, 2023

Passengers and staff who were at YVR beyond security checkpoint on November 23, 2023, between 6:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. or on the following flights may have been exposed to measles: Air Canada Flight 79 departed from Dubai, United Arab Emirates 2:17 GST, arrival at YVR at 6:07 PST and Air Canada Flight 206 departed from YVR at 10:36 PST with arrival in Calgary at 1:06 MST.

Vancouver Coastal Health and Teck Partner to Study How Bacteria-killing Copper Can Reduce the Risk of Infection Transmission in Long-term Care Homes

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), Teck Resources Limited and VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation are partnering to study how antimicrobial copper can be used to prevent infections and improve health outcomes in three long-term care homes across the VCH region. Funded by Teck, it will be the first study of its size in Canada.
