Nurse Practitioners (NPs) offer extensive health services, from diagnosing diseases to prescribing meds. Backed by the VCH NP Team, they operate independently and collaborate with physicians and medical teams in various settings.

NPs at VCH work in over 100 positions across a variety of practice settings in rural, remote and urban areas, including:

Starting as a new grad
VCH offers a supportive environment with tailored orientation for new graduates. Our Nurse Practitioner Advanced Education Programs include 200 hours of advanced education and clinical mentorship over the first six months to support the transition to independent practice. The curriculum is a mix of didactic lectures and hands-on workshops on relevant topics including splinting, suturing, and procedural skills. Advanced Education Programs are currently available for Acute Care, Emergency Department, and Urgent and Primary Care Centres.
