The VGH Physiotherapy Student-Led Elder Care Clinic (SLECC) provides a time-limited, goal-oriented outpatient rehabilitation service for frail community-dwelling seniors who have or are experiencing a recent decline in physical mobility from an acute hospitalization and/or a progression of chronic conditions.

The SLECC is a teaching clinic and partners with the UBC Department of Physiotherapy to support education in geriatrics for physiotherapy students. The team consists of physiotherapy students under the direction and supervision of a licensed physiotherapist. It is an active rehabilitation program. Participants are expected to partake in a goal-directed active exercise program and follow through with home-based recommendations.

The clinic aims to improve functional abilities and quality of life by working on strength and balance. Not only reducing fall risk but also enabling people to continue to live at home.
